Ashtanga Weekend Workshops with Lotta & Andrew Sebzda

November 29th – December 1st, 2024

Come join world-renowned Ashtanga Yoga teacher Lotta Sebzda for a deep-dive into your Mysore practice.

Lotta has been practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa since 1999 and is both a grandmother as well an inspiring teacher, in person and online on her Instagram platform @lottasebzdayoga

Lotta’s husband Andrew Sebzda will also be there to assist & teach. They both started Ashtanga Yoga together and it helped him to strengthen the weak and injured parts of his body, and today yoga is the only thing that keeps him strong, both in body and mind.

Lotta will be joining us for a weekend of both Mysore practice and a deep-dive into the Ashtanga practice:

FRIDAY 29/11

17:30 - 19:30 Led Primary Series (Perfect if you’re new to Ashtanga Yoga)

SATURDAY 30/11

8:00-10:00 Mysore Style Self Practice (also great for beginners!)

11.30-1.30pm “Just Handstands” Workshop

Short warmup for the shoulders & wrists with some awakening for the core, followed by pure handstand practice. This workshop is suitable for all levels so if you’re an absolute beginner, let’s get you kicking up and balancing on your hands. And for those already confident on their hands, we’ll look at alignment and skills to take you to the stage in your handstand journey! Let’s see the world upside down together :)

SUNDAY 1/12

8:00-10:00 Mysore Style Self Practice (also great for beginners!)

11.30-1.30pm Asana Techniques & Backbends

Asana technique based on the group with time for discussion on the workshop and anything else that’s on your mind. Different bodies need to find ways to adjust to come into a certain position - the Ashtanga practice is for everyone.

We will also explore our natural potential for backbends with safety, support and fun! The secrets of backbends are available to you through natural alignment techniques and relevant stretches to create openness in the front body. The dynamic movement mechanics of bending your spine are the key to keep your spine strong and flexible.

Lotta is a hairdresser-ashtanga lover - mother of two adult children and two grandchildren.  Ever since Lotta was a child, she was mostly upside down, doing handstands, cartwheel or other gymnastic. When she found Ashtanga Yoga in the late 90s it was like coming home, she says - she was immediately drawn to the practice. Since that day it’s a big part of her life - with dedication, love, curiosity, energy and gratefulness, she follows the traditional Mysore style. It was taught by late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and now his grandson, R. Sharath Jois.  During Lottas years of studying and practicing Ashtanga Yoga, she has had following teachers who stood and still stands close to her:

Gittan Hendele, Petri Räisänen & Natalia Paisano

Handstand practice became a big part of her life in 2015 - it has helped Lotta a lot - The strength from the handstands makes the ashtanga practice stronger, and gives so much joy to life generally.

Andrew also started his Ashtanga Yoga-journey in the same time as Lotta. With a background as a basketball-player, he had many old injuries to deal with.  Ashtangayoga helped him to strengen the weak and injured parts of his body, and today yoga is the only thing that keeps him strong, both in body and mind.
